Fatal Greenville County car crash deaths of Audrey Maris Ross and Amanda Lynn Leroux – Obituary
Audrey Maris Ross, 29, of Donalds, South Carolina, and Amanda Lynn Leroux, 30, of North Carolina, tragically lost their lives alongside two unidentified victims in a two-vehicle crash on New Year’s Eve in Greenville County.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. Tuesday on Cooley Bridge Road near Pearson Road. Authorities reported that a 2017 Subaru SUV was backing out of a private driveway when it was struck by a southbound 2012 BMW sedan. The BMW veered off the road, collided with a tree, and left all four occupants of the Subaru deceased at the scene.
The driver of the BMW, Nicholas Shane Meeks, was arrested and charged with four counts of felony DUI involving death and driving with a suspended license. Investigators determined that speed and alcohol were significant factors in the collision. Meeks had a prior DUI conviction from March 2024 and is currently held without bond for the felony charges.
Neighbors reported hearing a massive explosion and discovering the wreckage shortly after the crash. Despite their efforts to assist, it was too late to save the victims. Witnesses also observed discarded alcohol containers along the crash site, further underscoring the role of impaired driving.
Angie Ellis, a friend of one victim’s family, addressed the court, sharing that while forgiveness is possible, accountability for Meeks’ actions is necessary.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office continues to work on identifying the remaining two victims. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact authorities.
