Fatal Madison County interstate crash death of Devin C. Smart – Obituary
Devin C. Smart, a 26-year-old from St. Louis, tragically lost his life late Wednesday night after being struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 55 near I-255 in Madison County.
Authorities report that Smart had exited his vehicle and entered the southbound lanes of the highway when he was hit by a tractor-trailer. The Madison County Coroner’s Office confirmed he was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt neck trauma.
The Illinois State Police and the Madison County Coroner’s Office are continuing their investigation. A final cause of death will be determined following routine toxicology testing.
