Donquiez Wilbridge dies in fatal Fayetteville shooting
Fatal Fayetteville shooting death of Donquiez Wilbridge, 36 – Obituary
Authorities in Fayetteville are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2025, which occurred early Wednesday morning outside a local motel.
Police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:22 a.m. at the Motel 6 on the 3700 block of Fort Bragg Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Donquiez Wilbridge in the motel’s parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.
Nearby residents, like Brianna Brown, described the chaotic scene. “I was asleep when I heard all the sirens,” Brown recalled. “The ambulance and police arrived quickly, and they wouldn’t allow anyone to leave their rooms.”
Wilbridge was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed later that morning.
Despite reports from the Fayetteville Police Department last November highlighting a significant drop in homicides—over 50 percent compared to the previous year—incidents like this leave local residents uneasy about safety in their neighborhoods. The investigation into Wilbridge’s death remains ongoing.
