Gregory X. Ashford, a 32-year-old Beloit resident, was tragically shot and killed on December 26, in the 1200 block of Oak Street.
Beloit police responded to the scene around 7:38 p.m., finding Ashford suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. A woman at the scene was also shot but is expected to recover from her non-life-threatening wounds.
Authorities have classified the incident as a homicide and are continuing their investigation. This marks the third homicide in Beloit in 2024. Police urge anyone with information or surveillance footage to assist by contacting Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers or uploading evidence to their designated portal.
