Kennedi Aniyah Flora Jones dies in fatal Charlotte, NC car crash and homicide

Fatal Charlotte car crash death of Kennedi Aniyah Flora Jones – Obituary.

Kennedi Aniyah Flora Jones tragically passed away following a late-night car crash and an alleged homicide on December 25, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred on Shamrock Drive, near Hickory Grove Road and North Sharon Amity Road, at around 11:20 p.m.

Responding officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department found a vehicle down an embankment with Jones inside, suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities later determined that her death was linked to a criminal act. Dreshon Jibri Moreno, 21, of Charlotte, has been charged with her murder. Police allege Moreno robbed Jones of her phone and threatened her with a firearm. He has also been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Moreno is currently in custody without bond, with his first court appearance scheduled for January 2, 2025. Investigators from CMPD’s Homicide Unit, along with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and other specialized teams, are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding Jones’ death.

CMPD encourages anyone with additional information about this case to come forward. This tragic event highlights the profound loss experienced by Jones’ family and the Charlotte community during the holiday season.
