Kevin Douglas, a 53-year-old resident of Lexington, succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that occurred late on New Year’s Eve. Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell confirmed that Douglas passed away just after 6:10 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
The incident took place on North South Carolina Highway 35, near Russel Store Road, around 11:05 p.m., according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Nick Pye. Douglas was operating a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle traveling southbound when it collided with a deer on the roadway.
The impact caused Douglas to be thrown from the motorcycle. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
