Police have confirmed the first homicide of 2025 in Rochester, following a fatal altercation outside a home early Wednesday morning. Officers responded to a shooting incident on Curtis Street around 1:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Preston Papalia of Rochester lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite efforts to assist, Papalia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have identified the individuals involved in the incident, and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the investigation to determine possible charges.
No arrests have been made as the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact 911 or the Rochester Police Department Major Crimes Unit.
