Fatal Kankakee house party shooting deaths of Quaysean T’Andre Isom and TreVontae C. Ellis – Obituary

Quaysean T’Andre Isom, 22, of Kankakee, and TreVontae C. Ellis, 20, of Pembroke Township, lost their lives in a mass shooting during a house party on Kankakee’s east side early New Year’s Day. Five other individuals, including three women, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at local hospitals.

Kankakee Police Chief Chris Kidwell reported that officers responded to gunfire at approximately 4:05 a.m. on Pierson Parkway, where they encountered a large group fleeing the residence. Two firearms and numerous shell casings were recovered at the scene. Investigators believe two shooters were involved in the incident.

A person of interest found hiding near the house was detained and is being questioned by authorities. Despite this, police note that many attendees of the party have been uncooperative, hindering the investigation.

Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis expressed sorrow over the tragedy, calling it a devastating loss for the community. “One life lost is one too many,” he said, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement. Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe echoed this plea, asking anyone with information to come forward and offering prayers for the injured victims.

The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation. Authorities ask anyone with relevant information to contact KanComm or the Kankakee Police Detective Bureau.
