Angel Nunes, a 25-year-old man from Wilton Manors, Florida, tragically died on New Year’s Day after being struck by a stray bullet while embracing his partner, Christopher Dillon.
The incident occurred at Dillon’s home in Fort Lauderdale, where the couple had spent the evening together. Dillon recounted that the two were sharing a tender moment when a flash of light was followed by Nunes collapsing in his arms. Despite Dillon’s attempts to help, Nunes was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center but was later pronounced dead.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a homicide and suspect the bullet may have been fired as part of New Year’s Eve celebrations. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is urging anyone with information about the discharge of firearms during the holiday to come forward.
