The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified 26-year-old Aubrey Khalil Hayes-Reed as the man killed in a tragic firearm accident at the Shoot Smart Gun Range in North Fort Worth on Monday.
According to authorities, Hayes-Reed was attempting to clear a malfunctioning firearm when it discharged, striking him in the head. Despite efforts by medical personnel on the scene, he was pronounced dead before 9 p.m.
Fort Worth police have stated that the incident appears to have been purely accidental, and no foul play is suspected. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Shoot Smart Gun Range has expressed condolences to Hayes-Reed’s family, assuring that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement as the investigation continues.
