Fatal house fire in St. Thomas claims the life of A’zhanique Jonelle Hodge – Obituary
A’zhanique Jonelle Hodge, 21, tragically lost her life in a house fire in the Bonne Esperance area of St. Thomas. The Virgin Islands Police Department reported that her remains were found inside the burned residence after firefighters extinguished the blaze. The fire was reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center on Wednesday around 7:45 p.m., prompting a swift response from Virgin Islands Fire Services. Emergency Medical Technicians on-site confirmed that Hodge showed no signs of life upon discovery.
Authorities officially identified Hodge on Friday after notification by her next of kin. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is working alongside the Virgin Islands Fire Emergency Medical Services Arson Investigation and Prevention Unit to investigate the incident. Officials have requested that anyone with relevant information contact the VIPD or Crime Stoppers.
