Clay Uriah McLean, a 20-year-old Bakersfield resident, was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash following a police pursuit on Berkshire Road near Perla Way. The incident occurred on Friday, December 27, 2024, when California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop McLean, who was riding a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle, for a traffic violation around 7:27 p.m.
McLean did not comply with the stop, leading officers on a brief chase. Within a minute of initiating the pursuit, officers lost sight of the motorcycle. Shortly afterward, they discovered that McLean had collided with a Jaguar sedan at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Perla Way.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office confirmed McLean’s identity, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing. His death has left the Bakersfield community in shock and mourning.
