Fatal Bend discovery of Dirk Shelden Bock – Obituary
Dirk Shelden Bock, 48, was identified as the man whose remains were discovered Monday morning on Forest Service land south of Bend.
Bock, who had been homeless, was reported missing about six months ago after he was last seen leaving the vehicle he had been living in, approximately one mile from where his remains were found.
The remains were discovered by a person walking their dog off China Hat Road. Medical records and an implanted device helped confirm Bock’s identity.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office stated that the Medical Examiner would attribute Bock’s death to a medical event, likely related to cold exposure. Authorities have notified his next of kin.
