Fatal Southeast, DC shooting death of Eugene Jefferson – Obituary
Eugene Jefferson, 48, was found deceased in the hallway of a building on the 18th Street Southeast unit block on January 2, 2025. Officers responded to reports of an unconscious person and arrived to find Jefferson unresponsive and not breathing. Despite efforts by DC Fire and EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy, conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on January 3, confirmed that Jefferson died from a gunshot wound, and his death was ruled a homicide. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
