Herman Enzor, one of the first eight officers in the Horry County Police Department, passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 91.
The Horry County Police Department expressed deep sorrow over the loss, acknowledging his decades of service and his significant contributions to the community.
Enzor, who served from 1958 until 1998, made a lasting impact on the county, leaving a legacy of leadership that is remembered with great fondness. His efforts included the historic hiring of the department’s first female officer and its first Black officer.
Enzor climbed through the ranks to retire as a major. A service honoring his life is set for Monday at 3 p.m. at Spring Branch Baptist Church in Nichols, with visitation from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will take place following the service in the church cemetery.
