Fatal Camarillo Highway 101 car crash death of Jose Luis Ramirez Jr. – Obituary
Jose Luis Ramirez Jr., a 40-year-old resident of Oxnard, tragically lost his life in a two-car crash early Tuesday on northbound Highway 101 near Carmen Drive in Camarillo. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Ramirez as the victim.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Ramirez was driving a Lexus IS 250 at high speed when he made an unsafe turn, hitting a concrete wall. The vehicle overturned and ended up in the traffic lanes, where it was struck by a northbound Ford Mustang. Ramirez was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Mustang fled the scene on foot and had not been found as of Thursday. Authorities are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Northbound lanes were closed for several hours following the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the CHP’s Ventura office.
