Fatal St. Louis bar shooting death of Kobie Davis – Obituary
Kobie Davis, 25, of Urbana, Illinois, was fatally shot outside The Wheelhouse bar in downtown St. Louis on New Year’s Day, during a brawl that escalated in the streets.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), multiple officers were working security for the event, including an off-duty officer from the Leadington Police Department in Missouri.
When Davis, who was armed, refused to drop his weapon, the off-duty officer shot him in the chest. A second individual was grazed by a bullet in the incident.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene, while the officer, with 18 years of law enforcement experience, was not injured. The officer has been placed on leave while SLMPD’s Force Investigation Unit leads the investigation into the shooting.
