Family and friends have come together to raise over $25,000 to cover funeral expenses for 18-year-old Manaia Tither-Asiata, who tragically lost his life after falling approximately 15 meters from a rope swing on the northern Gold Coast.
The incident occurred around 6:40 pm on Sunday when Manaia was using a rope swing attached to a steep rock along the Coomera River embankment. Despite the efforts of paramedics at the scene, he succumbed to severe head, chest, and pelvic injuries.
A GoFundMe campaign, set up to assist his grieving family, has already collected $25,348 of its $30,000 target within a week of his passing.
Manaia was a recent graduate of the Men of Business Academy, a school on the Gold Coast dedicated to supporting young men from underprivileged backgrounds. The academy shared the heartbreaking news in a touching social media tribute, expressing their deep sorrow at his untimely death.
