Fatal Birmingham shooting death of Nathaniel Young – Obituary
A tragic shooting on New Year’s Day in Birmingham has claimed the life of 23-year-old Nathaniel Young from Gardendale. Around 2:20 a.m., Young and another man were traveling in a car when they were shot near Center Street North and Graymont Avenue West.
Both victims were rushed to UAB Hospital, where Young later succumbed to his life-threatening injuries. Authorities say the shooting may be linked to an incident where a suspect fired shots at a responding officer.
The officer returned fire, but detectives have not confirmed if the suspect involved in the officer’s shooting is connected to the double shooting. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
