Authorities are still searching for the suspect responsible for the tragic shooting that left three people dead at a gas station in Greene County on New Year’s Day. The victims have been identified by family and friends as Rhonda Denson, Jason Thornton, and Lester Campbell.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect waited outside Clarke’s Gas Station in the State Line community before the clerk opened the store. Once inside, the fatal shooting occurred.
A friend of the victims described them as kind and peaceful individuals. “She was always kind, always friendly. Jason was a good fellow who never caused trouble. None of them deserved what happened,” the friend shared in grief.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the case and is urging anyone with information about the suspect’s location to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers.
