Fatal Wyomissing pedestrian crash death of Richard Weiherer – Obituary
Richard Weiherer, 79, of Wyomissing, was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on the 1000 block of Penn Avenue, directly in front of the post office.
Weiherer was struck by a vehicle while crossing Penn Avenue. Emergency responders transported him to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m. The Berks County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma, with the manner of death ruled accidental. No autopsy is planned, according to Coroner John Fielding.
The driver involved remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing with assistance from county authorities. Penn Avenue was closed for about two and a half hours following the crash. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them at 610-375-6102.
