A horrific wrong-way collision on Interstate 135 south of Salina early Saturday morning resulted in the death of 7-year-old Ronan Barton of Monument, Colorado. The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. when a Honda CR-Z, traveling the wrong direction on the highway, collided head-on with a Toyota RAV 4 SUV.
Ronan Barton was one of three passengers in the Toyota who died in the crash, alongside 31-year-old Lydia Barton and 13-year-old Jesse Kinney. The wrong-way driver, Jacob Aich of Hutchinson, also perished.
Another passenger in the Honda, Kirkland Byers, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
