Fatal Detroit hit-and-run crash death of Cameron Richardson – Obituary
A Detroit police officer, Cameron Richardson, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday on the city’s east side. Just after midnight, Richardson was driving home in his Jeep Wrangler when a white van allegedly hit the vehicle at the intersection of Hoover Street and Greiner Street, causing the Jeep to roll over.
Despite efforts to save him, Richardson died shortly after the crash. The van fled the scene but was later found by Michigan State Police a short distance away.
A firearm was discovered inside the van. Authorities have arrested several people connected to the incident, but the driver, a 28-year-old man, remains at large. Richardson, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Detroit Police Department for just over a year, leaves behind two daughters. He was remembered as conscientious and thorough by his friends and colleagues.
