Demario R. Brooms, 47, of Kewanee, tragically lost his life afte being fatally stabbed during a confrontation at Fairview Homes.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, resulted in Brooms suffering severe injuries and led to his death despite efforts to provide medical assistance. Authorities later arrested a 17-year-old suspect, Dareon S. Baker, who is now facing charges as an adult.
Baker has been formally charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery, with his arraignment held on Friday. Baker pleaded not guilty and has requested a jury trial.
