Fatal Goose Creek Road crash death of Ethan Tyler Crawford – Obituary
Ethan Tyler Crawford, an 18-year-old firefighter with the Bunyan Fire Department, succumbed to injuries sustained in a tragic head-on collision on December 21. Crawford passed away early Saturday morning around 5 a.m. at ECU Medical Center, according to officials.
The accident, which occurred on Goose Creek Road, had already claimed the life of 67-year-old Lucy Clark Gurganus of Washington, who was driving the second vehicle involved. Crawford, her passenger, was airlifted in critical condition following the crash.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that 70-year-old John Thomas Wiggins of Goldsboro, driving a 2023 GMC Yukon, crossed the centerline, veered off the road, and then returned, colliding head-on with Gurganus’s vehicle.
Wiggins has been charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle, Left of Center, and Careless and Reckless Driving. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
