A 17-year-old girl, Eunikue Roberson, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash on Saturday morning in Gary, Indiana.
At approximately 5:51 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of 5th Avenue and Madison Street, where they found Roberson unresponsive in the roadway with an electric scooter nearby.
The Gary Fire Department pronounced her dead at the scene. Witnesses reported that the vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene.
Following an investigation, a person of interest was taken into custody, and the suspect vehicle was seized. Charges have not yet been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
