Fatal Bellefontaine Neighbors shooting death of Gerrick Fortenberry – Obituary

Gerrick Fortenberry, 30, tragically lost his life after being shot during a dispute in Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri, on Friday night.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on the 1200 block of Laire Drive just after 8:40 p.m. Fortenberry was found with gunshot wounds and transported to a nearby hospital, where he later passed away.

 

According to law enforcement, the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Tyrone Johnson, is Fortenberry’s brother. The two had reportedly been arguing over financial issues throughout the day.

Witnesses stated that shortly after Fortenberry walked outside their shared home, gunshots were heard. Johnson allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle, but police apprehended him about an hour later.

 

Johnson has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is currently being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $2 million bond.
