Fatal St. Thomas cement truck crash death of Liston Pickering – Obituary
Liston Pickering, an employee of Heavy Material LLC, tragically died on Friday morning in a cement truck accident in the Smith Bay area of St. Thomas. At approximately 9:30 a.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department responded to a report of a cement truck that had gone over a hillside. The truck had fallen 200 to 300 feet, and Pickering was pinned inside, unresponsive.
Emergency personnel confirmed at 10:12 a.m. that Pickering had no signs of life. Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck was reversing uphill when its rear right tire struck a large rock. This caused the vehicle to slide downhill, lose control, and flip several times before coming to a stop.
The Virgin Islands Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident.
