In a tragic incident Friday evening, 35-year-old Michael Spooner was struck and killed by a SEPTA bus while crossing Washington Avenue at South Front Street. The accident occurred around 7:00 p.m. as Spooner and his wife were crossing northbound.
While Spooner died at the scene, his wife was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where she was reported in stable condition.
Despite efforts by a Philadelphia police officer to administer life-saving measures, Spooner could not be revived. The bus driver stayed at the scene following the crash, and an investigation is underway.
