Fatal Redding officer-involved shooting death of William Clark Littlefield – Obituary

William Clark Littlefield, 52, was fatally shot by two Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies on January 1, 2025, following an emergency call to a residence on Bob’s Mountain Road in Redding. Authorities reported that Littlefield was outside the home when the confrontation occurred. He was reportedly under the influence of narcotics and had been threatening to harm himself and detonate a vehicle.

 

The Sheriff’s Office stated that the situation escalated into a violent confrontation, prompting deputies to discharge their weapons. Littlefield was pronounced dead shortly after medical personnel arrived. No information was provided on whether Littlefield was armed or what specific threat led to the use of lethal force.

 

The Shasta County Officer-Involved Critical Incident Response Team (OICIRT) is conducting an investigation into the shooting. The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave, in line with standard procedure for incidents involving the use of deadly force.
