Fatal Garfa fire death of Baby Mondal – Obituary
A tragic fire in the Garfa area of Kolkata claimed the life of 65-year-old Baby Mondal late on Sunday night.
The elderly woman, who lived alone in a room on the first floor of a three-story house, was unable to escape the blaze that broke out at around 1:10 a.m.
Her daughter-in-law and grandchildren were on the second floor at the time and managed to escape. Neighbors tried to rescue Mondal, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Firefighters responded to the scene, and after struggling for over an hour, they managed to control the flames.
Sadly, they found Mondal unconscious in her room with severe burns. She was rushed to M R Bangur Hospital, where she was declared dead. The fire was fully extinguished around 3:40 a.m.
