On Thursday, January 2, 2025, 64-year-old Embiye Karagöz was tragically struck by two vehicles within minutes while crossing the street in Adapazarı, Turkey. CCTV footage revealed how she was initially hit by a white hatchback, which sent her and her handbag airborne.
The driver of the white car stopped to assist, but while waiting for an ambulance, Karagöz was struck again by a burgundy saloon, knocking her further down the road and injuring one of her helpers.
Karagöz, on her way to Quran class at the time, was rushed to the hospital with severe internal bleeding and is currently in intensive care.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as M.G., has not been found, and the investigation continues.
The first driver, M.D., explained that the sun had blinded him, causing the accident. Karagöz’s daughter, Emel Karagöz Başarış, expressed her shock, emphasizing the lack of pedestrian safety even at crosswalks.
