Joseph “Joe” Neill, a photographer from Oregon, was found deceased on January 5, 2025, on a beach off Haynes Inlet, nearly three weeks after going missing. Neill, who had set out on December 15 to photograph the “king tide” at Horsefall Beach, failed to return home.
His vehicle was discovered on December 16, sparking an extensive search. Authorities later traced his phone to a railroad bridge over Coos Bay, where it’s believed he may have entered the water, though it’s unclear whether it was an accident or intentional.
His family expressed gratitude for the community’s support during the search, calling the recovery of his body a step toward closure.
