Michael Simpkins dies in fatal Edgefield County pedestrian crash
Fatal Edgefield County pedestrian accident claims the life of Michael Simpkins – Obituary
Michael Simpkins, a 69-year-old resident of North Augusta, lost his life following a tragic collision on Mount Zion Road in Edgefield County on Friday night. The incident, which occurred around 7 p.m., involved a 1998 Toyota 4Runner traveling east on the road when it struck Simpkins, who was walking nearby.
Emergency services transported Simpkins to Wellstar MCG, where he succumbed to injuries caused by blunt force trauma at 8:32 p.m., according to Edgefield County Coroner David Burnett.
The driver of the 4Runner did not sustain any injuries during the crash. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and additional information has been requested from the Edgefield County Coroner’s Office.
