Fatal Center Point shooting death of Paul Raymond Newell – Obituary
A 58-year-old man, Paul Raymond Newell, has died following a shooting in Center Point on Sunday night. Deputies responded to the 2200 block of 2nd Place NE around 11:34 p.m. and found Newell with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to UAB Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Steven Lee McDaniel, who is charged with intentional murder in connection with the shooting. McDaniel is currently being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
