On Sunday, January 5, 16-year-old Podili Charan tragically drowned in the Krishna River, while another boy, Nalluri Gopichand, was swept away by the strong currents.
The incident occurred when Charan, Gopichand, and three other intermediate students from Sattenapalle town went swimming in Amaravati’s major canal on the town’s outskirts. Amid the heavy current, Charan and Gopichand were both carried away, prompting the other boys to call for help.
Authorities and local residents conducted a search, and Charan’s body was found, but Gopichand remains missing. The family of Charan is devastated as they await any news of Gopichand’s fate.
