Fatal West Bank shooting death of three Israelis – Obituary

A tragic shooting incident unfolded on January 5, 2025, in the northern occupied West Bank, leaving three Israelis dead and eight others injured. The attack occurred on Highway 55, near the village of al-Funduq, when gunmen opened fire on a bus and two cars. The victims included two women, aged in their 70s, identified as Aliza Reiz and Rachel Cohen, who were residents of the West Bank settlement Kedumim. Also killed was Master Sergeant Elad Yaakov Winkelstein, a 35-year-old police officer from Kibbutz Ein Hanatziv. Despite prompt medical assistance, all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The assailants, believed to be two Palestinian gunmen, fled after the attack, prompting a large-scale manhunt by security forces. The violence is part of the ongoing unrest that has escalated in the region since the war began following the Hamas assault on Israel in October 2023.
