Fatal Louisville, Kentucky shooting death of Austin Schepers – Obituary
On January 4, Louisville Metro Police identified four officers involved in a shooting that resulted in the death of 33-year-old Austin Schepers.
Schepers had been wanted in connection with the shooting of Deputy Zac Andry from Orange County, Indiana, which occurred during a traffic stop on January 3.
The officers involved – detectives Benjamin Derby, Jan Dykes, Robert Ross, and Joshua Trumbo – are part of the Criminal Interdiction Division.
The detectives were acting on leads that led them to Schepers’ location at a residence on Wheeler Avenue.
Authorities from Indiana State Police reported that when officers approached Schepers, he fired at them, prompting the officers to return fire. Schepers was struck and ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
