Daniel Hernández Alvarado, a 17-year-old from Pleasanton, California, tragically passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in a high-speed solo car crash on Del Valle Road in Livermore. Alvarado, a student at Foothill High School, was driving a BMW 535i northbound on Del Valle Road when he lost control, crossed into the opposite lanes, and collided head-on with a tree on the right shoulder.
The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m., and Alvarado was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities from the California Highway Patrol have confirmed that speed was a contributing factor to the crash, though the cause of the vehicle leaving the road is still under investigation.
Alvarado’s family has created a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral and related expenses, describing him as a kind and bright young man with a contagious smile. Foothill High School has also offered counseling and support to students and faculty as they mourn the loss of one of their own.
