Fabian Vitolas dies in fatal Lubbock County two-vehicle collision

Fatal Lubbock County two-vehicle collision death of Fabian Vitolas – Obituary

Fabian Vitolas, 36, of New Home, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday night, January 6, 2025, on U.S. Highway 87 near County Rd 7150 in south Lubbock County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Vitolas was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche westbound on CR 7150 when he failed to stop at a stop sign, continuing onto U.S. 87 where his vehicle was struck by a northbound 2017 Dodge Durango.

 

Vitolas was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Dunn of Carlsbad, New Mexico, suffered serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center for treatment. Dunn, who was wearing a seatbelt, is expected to recover.

 

The driver of the Dodge Durango, 40-year-old Amanda Rodriguez of Lubbock, sustained minor injuries and was also treated at University Medical Center. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

 

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash and whether other factors may have contributed to the incident. Our thoughts are with the families affected by this tragic event.
