John George dies after being found in Spain following disappearance

Fatal discovery of missing Belfast man John George – Obituary

The family of John George, a father of two from West Belfast, has expressed gratitude to the public for their support in the search for him after a body was discovered in Spain on Tuesday afternoon.

While formal identification is still pending, it is believed that the remains are those of Mr. George, who had gone missing in the Alicante region.

John George last made contact with his family on December 14. Concerns grew when he failed to board his scheduled flight home on December 18, prompting a search effort.

In a statement issued by the family’s solicitor, Kevin Winters, it was confirmed that Spanish authorities informed John’s father, Billy George, that a body had been recovered and is currently in a morgue awaiting identification. The family, though deeply distressed, feels a sense of relief that the search has concluded.

The George family has requested privacy as they navigate the difficult process ahead, as the case transitions into a formal murder investigation.
