Julian Hernandez, a 17-year-old from Lubbock, tragically passed away after a violent incident on Saturday afternoon, January 4. The shooting occurred during what authorities believe was an attempted drug deal that escalated into a robbery. The event took place at an apartment complex located in the 1100 block of 58th Street, with police first alerted at 4:38 p.m.
According to investigators, Hernandez was attempting to purchase drugs when he was robbed inside a vehicle. During the robbery, Hernandez tried to flee but was shot multiple times. He was rushed to University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
As of Sunday evening, no arrests have been made, and the police have not provided a suspect description as they continue their investigation into the incident.
