Fatal Neenah car crash death of Justin Hartjes – Obituary
Justin Hartjes, 22, tragically lost his life in a car crash on Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. in Neenah, Wisconsin.
Hartjes was speeding on S. Park Ave., reportedly reaching 80 miles per hour, when his car struck a tree. Though he was pulled from the burning vehicle, he later succumbed to his injuries.
After the crash, officers initially believed that Hartjes’ baby was in the car with him. However, after searching the vehicle and finding no child, they went to his apartment on Cecil Street, several blocks away, and forced entry.
Inside, they discovered the baby in the apartment, which was filled with smoke from food burning in the oven. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed and was placed in the care of relatives.
A memorial has been set up at the crash site, where friends and family are leaving flowers and crosses in Hartjes’ honor.
