Wesley Cornett dies in fatal Thermalito Afterbay drowning
Fatal Butte County death of Wesley Cornett – Obituary.
Wesley Cornett, 32, of Butte County, was found dead in Thermalito Afterbay on Sunday, December 29, nearly a week after his brother, Andruw Cornett, was also discovered in the same location.
The two brothers went missing on December 14 while duck hunting when one of them capsized in a kayak, and the other attempted a rescue.
The cold water temperature, high winds, and large swells made the conditions particularly hazardous.
Both brothers were reported missing in the aftermath, and DNA analysis confirmed Wesley’s identity. Multiple law enforcement agencies and independent divers contributed to the search.
