Fatal San Diego County motorcycle crash death of Archie Richard Slaven III and Peter John Mison – Obituary

Archie Richard Slaven III, 71, and Peter John Mison, 68, lost their lives in a tragic head-on collision involving two motorcycles on East Grade Road near Palomar Mountain in San Diego County on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. on January 5th, close to mile marker 10.6 and east of Crestline Road.

Reports from authorities indicate that Peter Mison, a resident of Fallbrook, was traveling uphill on his Harley Davidson in the eastbound lane when he crossed into the path of oncoming traffic. He struck a Yamaha bike heading westbound downhill, ridden by Archie Slaven III from Escondido.

The collision was severe, and both riders were pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

At this time, investigators do not believe that alcohol or drug impairment played a role in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has relevant video footage to contact their Oceanside office at (760) 643-3400.
