Fatal Oak Lawn car crash death of Eglin Manuel Castro Alvarez – Obituary
A 27-year-old man from Midlothian, Eglin Manuel Castro Alvarez, tragically lost his life early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Oak Lawn. Authorities responded to the crash scene around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest Highway and Cicero Avenue.
Investigators said a vehicle traveling southwest on Southwest Highway collided with another vehicle heading south on Cicero Avenue.
The impact caused the striking vehicle to come to a stop on the southwest corner of the intersection, where it hit a third vehicle, pushing it into an empty storefront on the 4900 block of West Southwest Highway.
Paramedics transported the drivers of both vehicles to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Castro Alvarez, the driver of the struck vehicle, was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m. Oak Lawn police have not disclosed the identity of the driver of the striking vehicle, and the investigation remains ongoing.
