Jaime Hernandez, a beloved chef at the St. Francisville Inn, was tragically killed in a single-vehicle accident in West Feliciana Parish on Sunday afternoon. Louisiana State Police reported that the incident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on LA 965.
According to preliminary investigations, Hernandez was driving a 2014 Jeep Wrangler eastbound when a tree unexpectedly fell as he passed by.
The falling tree struck the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and collide with several other trees. Hernandez, 50, was not wearing a seat belt at the time and sustained severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The St. Francisville Inn shared a heartfelt tribute to Hernandez on social media, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their valued team member and asking the community to keep his loved ones in their thoughts. Hernandez had been an integral part of the inn’s family, known for his warmth and dedication.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. A routine toxicology sample will be analyzed to determine whether impairment played a role in the crash.
