Fatal Rancho Mirage hit-and-run crash death of John Henebry Jr. – Obituary

John Henebry Jr., a 76-year-old world-renowned photographer, tragically lost his life on New Year’s Day after being struck by a vehicle while cycling in Rancho Mirage.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office confirmed Henebry’s identity following the crash, which occurred near Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive shortly after 10:00 a.m.

 

Despite efforts by sheriff’s deputies to save his life, Henebry was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver involved in the incident remained on-site and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

 

Henebry was widely recognized for his exceptional photography, and his death has deeply affected the local community and beyond.

His friend, Judd Spicer, an award-winning golf writer, noted that Henebry’s influence in the photography world will endure through his iconic work.
