Lenny W. Corley Sr. dies in fatal Columbia shooting

Fatal Columbia shooting death of Lenny W. Corley Sr. – Obituary

Lenny W. Corley Sr., 33, was fatally shot on New Year’s Eve 2024 during an incident at Riverside Apartments on Lucius Road in Columbia.

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators reported that Corley was involved in an argument with two suspects shortly before the deadly shooting occurred around 10 p.m.

Authorities have arrested 20-year-old Sean D. Simmons and charged him with murder, breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and criminal conspiracy. Simmons is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Additionally, a male teen suspect has been apprehended in Stanly County and is awaiting extradition to Columbia.

He faces the same charges as Simmons, along with an additional charge for possession of a handgun by a person under 18. The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the teen is not a local resident.

Both suspects are in custody as the investigation into Corley’s tragic death continues.
