Neil Plummer dies in fatal Wilmington Township crash

Fatal Wilmington Township crash death of Neil Plummer – Obituary

A crash on Interstate 376 in Wilmington Township early Tuesday, January 6, 2025, claimed the life of 40-year-old Neil Plummer, a Greenville man.

Plummer, who was driving a Cintas van, was pronounced dead at the scene after his van was struck by a pickup truck that went airborne.

The incident occurred as the woman driving the truck lost control, crossing into the median and flying over a guardrail before landing on the van’s windshield.

According to Lawrence County Coroner Richard “R.J.” Johnson, the pickup truck’s driver, whose identity has not been released, was flown to St. Elizabeth’s Youngstown hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash happened as a state police vehicle had been parked with its lights on to assist a disabled vehicle in the median.

The truck was sent back into the median after the collision, while the Cintas van traveled a couple of hundred feet before coming to a stop.

Plummer died instantly from blunt-force traumatic injuries to the head and chest. He had to be extricated from the wreckage. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
